Enrolling my twins with Thinking Factory has been a blessing for us and words just can’t express our gratitude to Teacher Evelyn enough.

The extra sessions for oral and revisions given to the student prior to the national examinations help prepare and motivate them to strive for greater heights. My twins, Kieran and Kyla have improved in their English by leaps and bounds under her guidance.

Teacher Evelyn not only engages her students, but also provide regular feedback and advice to parents on the children’s progression and performance. She also shared with parents the oral and composition topics from the various schools.

This year 2023, had been a rocky year for my twins, especially for my girl. Teacher Evelyn went the extra mile to give them more practices, putting in extra time to coach them and communicate with us on how to work with her to support them better. We are so grateful to have found Teacher Evelyn & Thinking Factory at the end of P5 in 2022.
I wished we had attended her classes much earlier. Teacher Evelyn’s classes are well structured and covers all the components of the English paper really well. I especially liked that they did either a compo or a situational writing every week and also focused on paper 2 – that way, no aspect was ever neglected. The consistency was crucial to seeing an improvement in my daughter’s grades.

Oral practices started months before PSLE orals and the kids were given lots of opportunities to practice. Lots of topics were covered and she preps them well for it. Teacher Evelyn goes beyond just teaching. We enrolled RK for Thinking Factory’s classes at the end of P4 after seeing the great work that Ms Evelyn was doing with his sister RL in the lead up to PSLE 2020. While the sister went on to do very well, we were more measured in our expectations for RK as he approaches his studies in quite a different manner and had less solid foundations. To our great and pleasant surprise, his AL1 in PSLE 2022 English exceeded all our expectations. It is clear to us that Ms Evelyn’s tutelage was key to this outcome; she constantly worked with us, for example to nudge RK when added motivation was needed and for strategies to address specific areas of weaknesses. My child attended Thinking Factory at the start of P6. He really enjoys his lessons at Thinking Factory! He always shares with me that Teacher Evelyn is patient and showers him with lots of encouragement. Teacher Evelyn has helped my child improve and prepare well for all his English tests, including oral, situational writing, composition, and comprehension. In addition to the nurturing environment, I am also extremely satisfied with the curriculum here.
The lessons in Thinking Factory are well planned and crafted. Efficient vast coverage on different English paper 2 components plus either SW or CW done in every lesson. I like not only that Thinking Factory covers all the components tested for PSLE including oral but also, all of these are covered in one class. Unlike other centres, the English subject is split up into 2-3 different classes. This can be daunting and time-consuming for a P6 child having to attend several classes just for English subject alone.
My child benefited also by the in-depth Oral preparation and many rounds of 1-1 in-person oral tests Teacher Evelyn conducted with her students. My child has learnt and picked up useful concepts to approach his oral exam questions confidently.

About Teacher Evelyn
(Our Founder)

After almost 10 years of teaching in a Primary school, Teacher Evelyn decided to leave the service to live and teach abroad for 5 years.

During her happy 10 years of teaching, she specialised in English Language for the PSLE year. She taught both students who were strong in English and those who found the language challenging.

Teacher Evelyn believes that teaching goes hand-in-hand with learning.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, specialising in English Language and Literature and a Diploma in Education. She decided to pursue a Master degree in Education at NTU, after the birth of her second child. During the year that she worked on her dissertation, she started giving tuition to a few students at home. The few students grew quickly into groups of students through word of mouth.

After receiving her Masters of Education, she was not willing to leave her students without a tutor so Teacher Evelyn put aside her pursuit of her PHD and became a full-time English Language tutor.
In 2018 she opened up her centre, Thinking Factory Education Centre, at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, to accommodate her growing number of students and hopes that it will be a happy and conducive place of learning for them.

She started her blog soon after she began giving tuition as a means to help parents who do not have an English tutor for their child due to personal choice or financial reasons. Growing up without having the financial means to employ tutors, Teacher Evelyn’s hope is that her blog is able to help parents and students who can use her material to study at home. She is also proud of her students’ effort in writing and puts their compositions up on her blog as a means of encouragement.

Teacher Evelyn’s aim for her students is to find a balance between a love of writing & learning the English Language with the mastery of the components for examinations.
